Chapter by chapter Weisman describes what crumbles and what lasts of all that man has made, from ancient times to the present day. The specter awes, horrifies and gives us pause. What are we doing, what have we done, what must we do? Described as an eco-thriller, The World Without Us is a very engrossing read that rightly calls into question how we've regarded our world.
